Keep up promises

Sounds like a new year resolution doesn’t it? Well it’s not way off the mark in my case as I’d promised you all a Saturday and well  technically (again! )I’m here at the very end of a Saturday.  But the important fact remains…I’M HERE! YEAY!

I don’t have much by way of organisation to share with you all today unless u count the number of dishes I’ve organised in the sink ready for a trip in the dishwasher.

Today was cooking day! My DH is a very happy man today (wink! )

So this is what I prepared amidst a leftover onslaught.

Chana or Chickpea or Garbanzo chaat with date chutney.

For those of you who’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know that the date and tamarind chutney is a fave  of mine and you’ll find the recipe here.

For the chickpea Indian style street food chaat I used a variation.

I boiled a half kg of chickpeas in 2/3 water in a pressure cooker for about four  to five whistles with salt, 3-4 green chilies, 1 small onion sliced, pinch  of turmeric, red chilly powder to one’s  discretion and taste along with 2 tbsp of cumin seeds.

Then i squeezed 2 large lemons for the juice and added a large teaspoon of chaat masala powder et voila! The dressing is done.

Chop  a couple of green chilies, one small onion and two medium tomatoes de-seeded with some cilantro leaves for a garnish while serving.

I haven’t gone into the making of my home made chaat masala powder but that’s a post reserved for another day.

Til Tuesday, happy eating!
